Does that soft spot in the nose of the saddle really help numbness/ comfort or is it a gimmick? Numbness has always been a problem for me especially in TT and pursuits. The San Marco Squadra has worked for me in that department but it's a little on the wide side for me. The ERA looks to have the right width.

I've ridden with a San Marco Era for about a year. I had to look up and see what they called that soft spot. They refer to it as a "special elastomer with a flexible feathered toungue to create serious comfort" (what a mouthful). Maybe it works, I've never had problems with numbness in that area. I've found the Era to be an extrememly comfortable saddle. It dials in with my anatomy. Some might find it too firm. I like it because it is wide, has long rails, and it's smooth so I can slide back and forth when changing position. It's also a flat saddle if you prefer to ride with a level saddle. It also has a scale on the rails so you can keep track when you change fore/aft setting, which is a nice feature. It's also durable, going on 5K with no indication of wear.

I have an ERA that came with my Trek 5500. I can't use it because I find that it is too soft & cushy. I sink into it enough to cause numbness. Only goes to show that "No two butts are created equal".

i rode an era for a few months and never suffered more...aet

I've got a brand new (in the box) Era Pro if you're interested.

I've been using mine for a year and I have no problems with numbness. It is firm, as Dino said, but I haven't switched back to my Terry Fly yet. If I ever need a new saddle, I would get another one.

Happy riding.
