One of the reasons I like watching the spring classics is to watch these guys ride in freezing rain and snow. I know it's kind of demented. Especialy with temps around 90 degrees here. Unfortunately other than a little slop at PR the weather did not seem that bad.

I watched all the stages on TV and the weather was piss poor. Raining and cold from the prologue to the ending ITT. The stage pictured had been shortened due to weather, eliminating two large climbs. The last climb to the finish begain in heavy rain, then hail and finally snow. During much of the race the riders were actually wearing weatherproof tops, not just the clear plastic numbers. I watch about 90 days of European pro racing on TV each year and that's a first for such a prolonged period and by most of the peleton. Zulle rode well, losing over a minute on the first road stage due to a crash. It's one of those who knows situations. Frigo was strong and consistent and Cadel Evans, designated race leader for Mapei, also rode extremely well. I like Mapei's chances, Garzelli as team leader, in the Giro.
