I wanted see people's opinion on the Look PP396. I need good , aggressive pedals for racing and some small triathlons. Any opinions?

Thanks, Anthony

no. i have three pairs of the pp296, though, and that's the previous year's model of the 396. aside from the pedal body coming off the spindle once (as others have noticed and posted), they work as expected and are capable of being adjusted for both float (0-12*) and release tension.

if you're going mail order or internet, don't pay $200 for them. they'll go on sale.
I've used them for one year so far.Quack

I like them for the large stable platform that they provide. I have tried the SPD design but found that it put too much pressure on a small area of my foot instead of distributing it. Plus, clipping into the LOOK pedals is very predictable. The pedal is always in the same position. As far as the PP396s are concerned, I would just buy the cheaper non-adjustable float model and use the red cleats. I replaced an older pair of LOOK Carbon pedals with PP396s and honestly cannot tell the difference. I'm sure you already know that they are heavier than just about every other pedal out there. I have used LOOK pedals for the last five years and aside from the weight and the fact that you have to walk like a duck in the cleats, they are fantastic. They hold tight when you're putting the power down, even when your form starts to get choppy.
why not 206 w/ red cleat=less weight (nm)mwood

changed to the red cleats when my knee problems started. thought more float=more forgiving, perhaps i'd get better sooner. seems it took a little more twist to get out of the cleats, and this made things worse. just in my case. ymmv.

perhaps the draw of the 296/396 over the red cleat/other look pedal combo is the ability to adjust the float. with the red ones, you're locked in at 9*, if i understand it correctly.

They are for sale on the classified board of this site for $85. I have used them for about 1 year and love them, although weight might be an issue for some people. Also still waiting for the infamous Look Squeak. I'd say get em.
