|Okay, I just got this in the mail and I think it's sweet (that's why I bought it!) But some of my co-workers think it is on the gaudy side.
What do you think?
(oh and before anyone gets the wrong idea, elite did not pay me to post this)

|I think it is a little gaudy, but on the other hand, I love bikes with lots of chrome and colorful paint. On the right bike those would probably look very cool. Hey, the only thing that matters is if you like them. Style isn't everything (OK, maybe it is....). Be a rebel!

|By itself, it's a bit much IMO. If I had a dark colored bike with gold decals...Maybe.|

|What is it???|

|It's a new helmet fairing from Giro. No, actually, it is a 24k gold plated water bottle cage.
The sucky thing is that you have to use a special size water bottle (will NOT hold standard water bottles.) Even worse, they didn't ship a free bottle with this!

|was that it was toe clip (retro!) then looked at the mounting bolts and realized it was a bottle cage. Then I saw the bottle retaining piece and figured a regular bottle wouldn't fit. D'oh! Sorry they didn't ship a bottle with it. It would look good on my carbon fiber Allez with yellow decals, but bad on my ti Sampson. Ok on one, gaudy on the other. Your opinion may vary!
|looks great on my Smokey & The Bandit 6.6 Trans Am!||Tig|

|Just kidding. I think it would look better in brushed aluminum or something more industrial.
Coincidentally, I was looking at one in the the Colorado Cyclist catalog today and thought the gold would weight quite a bit more than the raw aluminum version. Maybe you can drill out some holes?! :o)

|ive got a gold frame pump to match.....
then you could have a rbr.com bike inspired by Ali Baba and the 40 Falafel Vendors the and maybe giro could send you a helmet with velro strips for attaching a towel.
im sure they would give you free entrance in this years Tour of Dubai. who knows they may even give you an honorary King of the Camels jersey.
be sure to check that its a right handed bottle cage or they will spot it. :-)
if its not your scene ill have it :-)

|...I am currently on a spending restriction. Buying three bikes in one week is not a good way to make points with the "boss". Even though I argued that one is a great bargain, and one is for her!
The next purchase I make can't have wheels, must be covered with leather, and fit in the living room.

|gaudy; but what the hell, it's free! :)
all black and gold might be a different story - might actually look all right.
|Can you get it in silver?||Empirion75|

|That bottle cage looks pretty damned nice on a Matt Black Principia Rex ePro, a friend of mine has that setup and its quite nice. Of course chuck it on a festina colour specialzed with a mavic cosmic carbon wheels and your looking at a fashion disaster.|

|...but it reminds me of a house in Miami beach. You walk through the entrance double-doors, and there is a smoked glass mirror on one side, a marble floor and white crushed gravel with potted palms on the other side....|
|I think it might look nice on an orange frame.||Leisure|

|It looks ok. I don't like the idea of requireing "special" bottles and only having 500ml bottles for an option.|| |
