They've supported cycling for years, time to pay backgregario

From Frank Gonzales' e-newsletter Infociclisimo:

KELME'S FUTURE IN DANGER

Although not officially on sale, the word in out and it seems to be like the
only way out for the Kelme company, which is going through a very bad
financial situation. This has caused the company to go through serious
difficulties in paying their commitments to the riders and other team staff.
A few days ago the team riders received tgheir payments for March, although
the staff has not. The debt is not that big, but the worrisome part in not
the situation at the cycling team, which is doing well, but the condition of
the company, which is looking for a partner to save their delicate financial
situation, to prevent the possible cessation of payments. It looks like the
Quiles brothers are reorganizing their companies to sell some portions of
them, though not all.

The company has recently received a credit for 9 million euros from the
Generalitat Valenciana which is keeping the company alive, but the situation
continues to be delicate. The company has big debts and the construction of
two manufacturing plants in Russia and a new 22,000 squared meter facility
om Torrellano has placed the company in dire straits.

I believe in supporting companies that support cycling. What can you do?

Short of liquidating my MASSIVE 401(k) and mailing them a check, what could an individual do??

I agree that we should support companies that support cycling. Buy their products, use their brands, etc are all the individual can do.

To show my support for team sponsers...I'm gonna mail a letter today!

This wasn't a request to mail them a check, but as you say, to support them by buying their products. Kelme makes soccer, running, etc shoes as well as other soccer jerseys, bags and accessories. I have also switched from using UPS to using the Postal service for when i need to ship packages. It's cheaper too!

If you recall, a Kelme rider was killed in a training accident and his brother was seriously injured. Kelme went way out of their way to support their families financially.

I didn't mean to be a smart-a** when referring to my 401(k). I had only been familiar with them through cycling. I have never seen their products in the US. Since my 9 year old will be starting soccer again next month, I'll look for Kelme products.

I'ts kinda tough to support Kelme in the US. I don't remember evern seeing their name on sporting goods. Do they seel the goods under different lables?

I do always use USPS for packages, and I do my monthly bit to support Deutsche Telekom by using Voicestream as my celular provider.

If you're into soccer, Kelme is a supplier of shoes, balls, bags, jerseys, etc. and I found several sources by doing a search.

i know they make other shoes but all I found were soccer shoes.
