Any body tried Zefal clip on fenders?????turtlemoye

I'm currently setting up an old frame as a rain bike and was thinking about getting a set of Zefal clip on fenders. Has anyone tried them? How does the front fender attach to the bike? Any other simple fender design suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

I rode with a clip-on rear fender for the first time this Saturday. It was great for keeping road spray off my back - it made riding so much more enjoyable. I can highly recommend them. Forgot the brand name, though... (x3 something)
Had 'em on my commuter for a couple of yearscory

It doesn't rain much around here, so they don't get the test they would in Seattle, but they're fine for keeping spray and crud off you and the bike (in Seattle they like more coverage--the clip-ons are fairly short in the rear, so the people behind you get sprayed). They're solid--I put them on two or three years ago and haven't touched them since.
That's also why I can't remember exactly how the front attaches, but as I recall there's a bolt at the top of the fork and the light plastic fender attaches there, with no braces--it just hangs out. I have canti brakes, so there's nothing in the hole. I imagine if you have sidepulls, you'd use the brake bolt, but I don't have the bike around to look at.

The front attaches on the center fork brake bolt, same for the rear. Be careful there are tire clearance issues with many tire/brake combos, though. I use them on my commuter which is a 'cross bike with cantis and they work great, light weight and no rattles thus no need for fender braces.

Ken or Cory,

I am also running canti's and have a cable hanger that attaches at the top hole on the fork. Do you think that I will be able to use both? Does the fender attache at the front of the fork or the back?

Somehow I can't picture that cable hangar and how it attaches... it must project above the bolt hole I guess. Anyway, the front fender has an L-bracket that enables you to attach it either on the front side or back side of the fork, but of course the bolt goes all the way through the fork (I assume there's already a bolt and nut on yours now), so it's whichever gives you the best fender coverage. One position lets it cover farther down in back, the other gives more coverage over the top of the tire.

On the rear, there is an auxiliary plastic double-hooked snap-on that secures the fender around the seat tube near the BB. That plus the same bolt-through arrangement holds the rear fender on.

Good luck--it sounds like they should fit. They definitely reduce the road spray when it rains!
