|My personal views on Simoni and the TDF. What do you think?||BAi9302010|

|Personally, I think Simoni may have a chance. No one talks trash unless they have the goods to back it up and Simoni has been giving his fair share of it. Basically, Simoni is doing what Lance did last year, by making all of these statements. The first one that I noticed (as I mentioned in a previous post) was the cover of Professional Cycling, a month ago which on the cover has the statement "I can drop Lance". The next one I saw, was on Cyclingnews.com, in the '02 Tour route preview section where they have comments from different sources, including Simoni, in which he states that he thinks he has a good chance at winning.
Someone also mentioned that Simoni is a good descender, which most of us saw last year in the Giro and can verify.
Finally, this year Simoni will be riding for Credit Agricole, a team which has needed a strong leader for some time. Credit Agricole has more talent on it than most teams, but in the past, they never really had a good leader to put it all together.
among these are:
-Jens Voight-excellent time trialist(won Grand Prix De Nations last year) and at breakaways
-Stuart Ogrady-Excellent sprinter
-Jon Vaughters- great climber
-Bobby Julich-great all-arounder (but not a good enough leader to ever win the Tour)
So what do you guys think?

|and yes he has a chance. Pantani talks trash and doesn't have the goods to back up anything. Talking trash is important for promotion and publicity. I'm sure the TdF organized will be really pleased to find a contender for Lance this year.|

|Simoni hasn't a snowball chance in hell at the TDF. We haven't even seen Lance's best yet because he hasn't needed it, and he surely won't need it against the likes of Simoni.
FWI, Pantani is not in the TDF again, rightly so IMO.

|But better yet, we have Christophe Moreau joining Credit Agricole. Also, Lance is definately going to have a very tough time beating Ullrich if Bobby Julich is joining Telekom. julich is strong enough to win the Tour, but he lacks the leadership. This makes him the ultimate domestique for Ullrich.|

|He came out of no where, placed 3rd in TDF, then he dissappears quietly. How can that happen? Anybody know something about his palmare?|

|I thought he was going to have a chance in the 99 tour. He has not been the same since that crash in the time trial though. We will have to see how he does with Telecom. It would be nice to see him take a stage. With all that is going on with Ullrich, he may actually have a chance to lead the team.|

|I am sure the same thing was said of Livingston last year, and Ulrich came up empty.|

|Maybe you haven't heard, but Ulrich seems to be spending his time getting drunk, squeezing himself and a team mate and two girls (neither of whom is his wife) in his porsche, and then running over bicycles. I don't even know if he's been on his bike yet since his knee injury, but without a serious overhaul of his focus really soon, I'm not so sure he'll be a contender. I mean come on, could you ever picture Lance doing that? Of course not, and that's why this july its going to be Lance 3, Ulrich 0.|
