Where do you clamp an aluminum frame with a carbon fiber seatpost?

Pull up the seat post and clamp the seat post---I work in a bike shop and the mechanics do that no matter what material the seat post is made of--don't clamp it too tightly and don't forget to mark your seat height--customers get really mad about that !!!

yup--and this is the best argument for compact frames.

I work as a bicycle mechanic as well and would never think of clamping a carbon fiber tube in a repair clamp. Mark the seat post accurately, remove it and put in a dummy, or one of those Park devices, and clamp to that. The previous poster could be perfectly right, I just don't think the risk is worth the cost so I've never even tried.
