umm. is it just me or do any of you hear voices in your head while riding?

Today while crusing back to the house at the end of my ride I got this urge to attack a hill. about halfway up I decided to really put the hammer down (not as impressive as you might think) and suddenly I hear Phill Liggett's voice announcing "and there's a tremendous acceleration paul! I really think he's gone away for good this time!"

this happens to me all the time. usually it's motivating. sometimes though I hear crap like "he's cracked! oh my! now he can just watch as his lead slips away and there's nothing he can do about it..." shut up phil. please. i'm dying here.

anyone else hearing the voice of phil? angel choirs? am i picking up eurosport through my fillings?

Now, if the neighbor's dog tells you to do anything, ANYTHING AT ALL, do not listen.

He's not the Devil. He's just a crazy talking dog.

And do you hear the roar of the fans, clapping you on? Your name painted on the road ahead, at the 22nd switchback? And you will now beat your previous time up this incredible coll? The same col Eddy Merckx rode to victory on many years ago. Ah, my friend, it is Spring and you are in love.

Savor it! Gobble it up. Life is so short.

Enjoying a nice ride yesterday when the Gods spoke...the sky opened up and it poured. Cold, hard rain. I think there was snow and sleet mixed in.

I sometimes get songs going through my head while I ride which is usually ok, unless it is stuff the kids have been listening to: a couple of hours of Raffi doing 'Baby Beluga' is not ok.
Or that darn "Dragon Tales" tune (nm)JL

The one that bugs me is the lambchops song. "This is the song that never ends" but in my head it says This is the "road" that never ends. Yes it goes on and on my friends. Please make it stop.

The voices in my head are usually loudest when I'm online. It goes something like this:

Voice: Hey, let's see what deals are on ebay! Wouldn't it be nice to have a few extra derailleurs and bottom brackets on hand, you know, "just in case"?

Me: Um . . . but my derailleur's fine . . . but that BB is feeling a little crunchy, I guess.

V: See? While you're online, maybe check out some new frames. You never know when that GT frame is gonna crack and THEN what will you do? You don't even have a spare road bike! I think I saw GT frames on sale at Supergo . . .

M: Well, ah, hmmm . . . I guess it wouldn't hurt to just look.

V: Oh, see? That's the frame there! And it's available in your size! That can't be coincidence! You better snag that one before someone else does!

M: I really shouldn't do this . . . aw, hell, better to not need it and have it than to need it and not have it. Sold!

That is a great idea! Web-enabled cyclocomputer browsers, to check email, do RBR posts, bid on Ebay, and of course... view cycling porn. Make the hours on the trainer melt away. Multi-task, check movie times while climbing, find recipes while sprinting...

I get Phil commentating in my head.

For some reason, that switchback makes me feel like Jan at the TdF and for the rest of the climb, I imagine threading my way through the crazed fans! (With the obligitory idiot running next to me with old glory waving.)

Hey, a girl can dream, can't she?!? ;)
