Is there any type of organization to protect cyclist rights?DY

Here in California we have the Surfrider Foundation. You join, they have Lawyers, Lobbyists. etc. and their mission is to protect the beaches and water for surfers and bathers.

Is there anything like that for cyclists? I'm frustrated with local governments not caring for cyclists' safety and thier right to use the roads.

Is on a regional basis or national? Just wondering if anyone knew of anything here in Southern California (San Diego)
