|Sunday - race
Monday - recovery ride
Tuesday - 2.5 hours (usually hills)
Wednesday - recovery ride
Thursday - training crit in the evening
Friday - recovery ride
Saturday - easy ride or race
I am planning to drop back on the Thurs crits in May/June to focus a bit more on longer distance riding as I have a 101 mile MTB race in July this year. After that race I'll drop it back through August/Sept and start up the weights again for CX season in October.
I see guys who lift getting good results about this time of the year. Do you think it's worth doing or should I stick to just riding?

|Unless you feel you are specifically lacking power I wouldn't lift during the race season, particularly if you are planning on a peak in July. Then again, I'm not a coach nor do I play one on TV.
Here's a typical week for me with a planned late June peak:
Monday - rest completely
Tuesday - 2 workouts 1.5 hrs easy at lunch then training race or intervals after work
Wednesday - race 10 mile TT
Thursday - 1.5 hrs recovery/easy
Friday - 1.5 hrs recovery/easy
Sat - road race or crit (then 2hrs easy)
Sun - if not racing 5hrs with hills or race like Sat
The TT series ends in May so I'm not sure what I'll be doing on Wed in June.

|my peak? don't really know yet, hopefully around late July. I'm not that specific with training anyway. I hope to be in good shape through late July/August then taper a bit through September, ride my MTN bike more and get ready for CX with some power drills and intervals. By then my weight training will be riding my SS MTN bike more than I have been.
I might not do any lifting until June and then maybe once a week, I feel I do lack power. I'm tall and skinny and can climb well but not on the power-type short climbs. I prefer longer climbs but in NJ/PA there aren't too many that are all that long in most races.
I'll see how I feel later in May then decide. Thanks.

|What day do you rest? If you want a good workout plan you need at least one day of rest. I would suggest that you work out on the recovery days.|| |
