| Cipo fans, help send Mario to the Tour | gregg Apr 26, 2002 10:03 AM | | If you are a Mario Cipollini fan, you can help send him to the tour.
Here's how: (link to article on Specialized.com website)

IMHO, the selection process for Le Tour has always bewildered me.

| Cipo doesn't like Marie Le Blanc | Qubeley Apr 26, 2002 11:43 AM | | He openly said that he will not ride the tour even if they invite him. But again, it might just be angry words. I think based on the Team's performance this year, they will have no problem getting the wild card. I think Mario has more feeling for the Giro.
I do not like the way Specialize's way of "getting Cipo in the Tour" crap. I think for one, they are trying to cash in on Cipo. Second, annoying the Tour organizer with junk mail of same content will have just adverse effect on the selection. |
| Cipo doesn't like Marie Le Blanc | yeah right Apr 26, 2002 12:43 PM | | 'I do not like the way Specialize's way of "getting Cipo in the Tour" crap. I think for one, they are trying to cash in on Cipo.'
-Isn't this called advertising? Of course Specialized wants Cipo in the tour, they pay good money in exchange for exposure. I really hope AS gets to go, they deserve it a lot more than some of the French teams that will get to ride. |

| re: Cipo fans, help send Mario to the Tour | TPC Apr 26, 2002 3:57 PM | | I don't think the translations match. My french is a little rusty, but it's saying something about drinking wine and eating cheese all day long. |
| Hey, it's their race. | look271 Apr 26, 2002 7:22 PM | | Do we invite Japanese or other baseball teams to the "World series?"It's France's race, and, being French, they'll have in it who they want. That's their decision. |
| Its bull! | tuffnick Apr 27, 2002 11:38 AM | | If Lance switched teams or even wanted to go to the tour alone to win a 4th straight tour unhelped. What would the tour organizers say? Mario is fitter than ever and I think he can finish and win the green jersey. He's getting up there in years but age isn' t always a factor.

I said something to the effect of "never mind the fact he has yet to complete a Tour, but that's never stopped anyone from winning it before," etcetera. We'll see what happens, I suppose.//dhs |
