Fixed cleats?JBurton

I was wondering if anyone out there used fixed Look cleats (or any other fixed cleat/pedal). I was thinking about trying it out since I will need new cleats soon. I don't have knee problems at all and I think I may like being clipped in tight. Thoughts?

I prefer the black cleat and being locked in but I'm coming from the clips and straps era so naturally my prejudice lies with anti banana peel sensation. An Old Dog.

New Looks come with red cleats and I use them when I have no black ones. If I buy cleats I prefer the black (fixed) cleats. I have no knee problems and some achilles tendon troubles. The black cleats seem to be a little easier on the heel. I'm also from the clips and straps era, but I don't think that's the issue as I never pulled my straps tight enough to entirely eliminate float.

I too have a sore achilles sometimes. Funny, I thought that the fixed cleat might help that, also. Just seems logical. The fixed postition would seem to not allow my heel to be tweaked. Not to mention I think I might feel more secure.

I tried to ride a friend's bike with flat pedals the other day. I was really afraid! Amazing that just three years ago being clipped in freaked me out.
