|you want to spend? How committed are you to this whole deal? Have you borrowed a road bike and you want something to slap on your MTB after it's all done? Do you want something to last? |
Look, if you don't know the answer to any of this, it's going to be hard to help you BUT I would suggest wandering on down to your local Performance bike store, if you have one around. They're not the cheapest in the world, but they're not the most expensive, and you tend to find some decent values at lower price points. You often can find pedals on their clearance or barely used tables. Buy them. Spend about $60, give or take. Buy the Performance brand if it's the best deal. Buy cheap shoes THAT FIT (PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DON'T TAKE ME TO MEAN BUY THE BEST VALUE THAT COMES CLOSE THEY HAVE TO FIT THEY REALLY DO), practice a bunch, and have a good time on the ride.
If it's the D.C. ride, I'll look for you.
