I am a rider who is 5'5" with a 28.5" inseam and have been measured to need a 63cm total reach for the top tube and stem. I do not want to buy a custom frame at this time due to money issues. I have looked at a Specialized Allez with its compact geometry and I have the standover clearance I need. I will be using this bike for commuting(28 mile round trip) and on some organized rides on the weekend. My question is how do these bikes ride. The 50cm model seems to fit me well. Should I be looking at another compact frame bike or should I wait till next year and save money to get a custom frame.

I had a Specialized Allez for me it was a great starter bike @ that time all I was riding was mtb's it is a harsh ride. I did not realize this until I got my new cannondale R4000. The Specialized was very good to me tho I put about 3000 mi on it with no problems, but I did not like the tire's, still it is also a great bike for the $$. Well good luck with the bike hunt.
