Opinions please - 2001 Klein Quantum ProPecos

I have an oportunity to pick up a 2001 unbuilt for $800. I assume the price is very good, but I would like to hear from those that have road this frame. The Klein site hypes it's tortionally stiff yet plush ride. Is this frame worth a look and what is the "oos" or "ahhs" factor of this frame. Not that it really matters, but I don't see them on a regular basis.

I'm riding a 1999 which is essentially the same frame. I love it. I had the Q-Race but had to sell it for financial reasons. Didn't think twice when I had the opportunity to pick up another Klein

The ride is stiff, but the Aeros fork is really compliant. Soaks up a lot of bumps. (this is the same fork that's on Trek 5900's)

The frame is incredibly stiff when you get up and hammer on the pedals. Much stiffer than anything else I have ever ridden.

The only issue (which really isn't one) is internal cable routing and how you feel about it. Obviously if you work on your own bike it's a bit tougher to re-run cables. However the clean look is nice.

The frame is really light as well. And you won't have to worry about which headset you want with the factory pressed one.

Bottom line, get it. It's a great ride, and Plum Crazy is one cool looking color.

Hope this helps! Good luck

I have an '99 Klein Quantum Race... absolutely love this bike. $800.00 is a great price, go for it, you won't be disappointed. 2001 came with Rolf Vector Pros, only downside is that Rolf doesn't supply wheels for Trek bikes anymore and replacement rims down the road in a few years will present a problem. Dura Ace is a great group, no problem with the internal routing. Great paint, others will disagree but it's probably the best aluminum bike on the market. Klein also has great customer service and an online tech manuel that you can download. Inquires will be answered by a real live person. I take it, $800.00 is the price for the entire bike or the frame? If it's the entire bike you have the deal of the century. I've seen ads for QP frames for around 1K...

the frame and fork for something like 450 from helen's bikes a couple of months ago--I'm believe it's a 2000 although I'm not certain. It's certainly not the plushest bike out there, but it's well made, responsive, and much smoother than some of the cheaper AL offerings. All in all, a good road bike. Cool paint, too. If 800 represents the frame and fork AND the build kit, that's an excellent price.

I'm not sure I'm plum crazy about the color, but I guess I can live with it. I have't considered wheels or even a gruppo setup. I was thinking mostly DA. For wheels, how about the spare yellow Xaeros that I have? Do you think that would look too over the top? :o)
