Setting Up New Look Cleats...(6 posts)

Setting Up New Look Cleats...John Ryder
Apr 16, 2002 12:03 PM
I would like to remove old cleats and put the new ones in same position as the old ones. What is the best way of doing this? Sidi energy shoes, Look (black) cleats.

Thanks.

Before you remove the old ones, mark their position on all three sides. Mark along the entire length of the cleat body where hits the shoe. Use spray paint, magic marker, knives, picks, hot metal, whatever works.

Mount new cleats by centering them between your marks. It's very simple.

And why only one? Aren't there two cleats?

Use a marker - it's a thousand times simpler, a million times faster, and a billion times less error prone.
Dynamic Positioner...Akirasho

... if your cleats have the slot, and you've got the Dynamic Positioner (the rod thingy with the red handle) then you can adjust for near perfect cleat position by yourself (helps to have a friend) using a "stationary" (bike on trainer) cycle.

You might even find that your old cleat position was "wrong"

We abide.
