Top 10 Things Learned at The 2002 Ride For the Roses

10. Always start the ride with the fastest wave of riders.
This way, you don't go horse yelling "on your left" 1000 extra times.

9. Don't snicker at the rider who weighs 30 pounds more than you do before the ride starts.
He will certainly rip your head off and leave tire tracks on your back as he rides over you at mile 50.

8. Never try to beat Lance. If you do, he's got Robin Williams right there
to make you laugh and fall off the bike.

7. If you're doing the 40 with 3 miles to go, make sure you pull over to the right to have your tea
party when the 100 milers catch up.

6. After riding 70 miles, never tell your friends you
missed "the turn" to do the 100 when "the turn" was to do the 70.

5. Make sure you drink plenty of water, but don't give the guy behind you a shower in the process.

4. Don't ever think you'll catch Lance for a photo-op.

3. Never stop at the last rest stop with 15 miles to go.
They always look looney and the more you stay, the more you think you've lost it too.

2. Don't ride in to Elgin thinking they'll be serving Elgin Sausage.

1. Two fast chicks on a tandem make the best windshield!!

When there is a soccer team staying in the room above you. I've never called and complained to the front desk before. Finally at 2:00am, I call and complained. I finally got about 4 hours a sleep. That's my excuse( and I'm stick'n to it) for only doing 70 miles.

Dave, we must have stayed at the same LaQuinta ( Highland Mall) cause they were really loud!!! and with no real manager on duty it didn't do any good complaining.

We were at the same place. I've stayed there before and never had a problem
