where have all the moustaches in cycling gone?Spirito

looking thru some ye olde cycling posters and noticed the best riders had very spruced and fashionable moe's - was it an early form of performance enhancement or was it thought to be more aero?

i think its cool and in my mind if i had a picture of slipstream and ahimsa it would be the one below - the only thing is i am not sure who is who. any ideas?

A MEAL, they both must be Ahisma since he is the chef.

Used to have a beard but shaved it because I got tired of removing the protein that accumulated after those long rides.

i how about the wheelmen who used to terrorize Central Park in the 1890s. NYC's finest would issue speeding & reckless riding tickets to them, so I guess the ol' moustachios may have been more function than fashion. ;>)
Funny you should mention that- Just reading Jack Simes128

1976 book 'winning bicycle racing'(an excellent read) and noticed most of the 70's American racers pictured there are sporting 'stashes too. The style must be on a century re-cycle cycle...

Did find this bearded fellow lurking around though.....(no this isn't a picture of me...! geesh)

First to name hime gets road swag!!

anybody else see that on the last few days of the OLN '01 tour recap? it's quite unsettling.
Hadn't noticed, but can't imagine it'd be a good thing. (nm)rideslikeagirl

After all these years too. I knew it would show up some day. Oh well. I admit it. That's me on the right.
