Got my new shoes today...MVN

and you guys were right, they are Genius 4's, not 3's. He told me I would get the 3, but I guess they were already out of them. Anyway they fit great, can't wait to ride in them in the morning. And to top it off, I got them a little cheaper than retail. Not much, but every little bit counts when you're on a budget, lol.

I just recently picked up a pair of G4's that supplant my G3's.

The only noticable difference aside from styling appears to be a bit more support in the heel cup. You will probably love them!

One hint... remove your heel screw, and apply a drop of Loctite BLUE before reinstalling. The screws have a tendancy to back out over time.

Not directly related... but if you use LOOK pedals, try to use the Dynamic Positioner to set them up (you have to use cleats that have the slot for the positioner).

Apr 4, 2002 10:21 PM has SIDI genius 4's for 79.95 british pounds, which translates into about 95 US dollars after you calculate out for VAT and do currency conversion. it's the best deal around. they've got pedals nice and cheap too.

...that's where I got my G4's and they were $114 UDS total (with S&H) and Parker got them to me in about a week even though they had to get them in stock (size 49)... impressive.

... you don't get to try them on, as you said you wait a week and you give up the US warranty. Hmmm, not such a good deal after all.

I'm sure of my size, have had several pair of Sidi in the past, and have little concerns for warranty issues because of their high quality and quality control.

I understand protecting distributorships, but I live in a world economy and as time progresses, all of us will be hard pressed not to participate in it.

The real irony is... no matter who you get your Sidis from, they ultimately come from the same factory... so the argument becomes a bit mute.

... is that MVN has not had the shoes before, or at least I assume that by the tone of his post.

And I understand that all Sidi shoes come from the same factory in Italy. But, like I said, because they didn't come through the US, you don't get a US warranty. So, where MVN can go to his LBS if he does have problem, I hope you speak Italian because you will need call Sidi directly.

If the absolute rock bottom price is your only concern, the you made the right choice. But when other factors are taken into account, the price doesn't always win.
