How many of you folks are at work right now, reading about bikes? I am! (by the way, I'm a schoolteacher).

I'm working for a bicycle federation, organizing a huge bike ride, surrounded by bikes yet still finding time to read about bikes. Obsess much? Is it the weekend yet? Oh, and it's snowing.

if I feel like it, which I usually do, I can go up to my room, get my bike clothes and go for ride. It's great working from home, from a riding standpoint.
Unfortunately, this gig won't last and I'll be back in an office soon enough. Hopefully, on my next contract, I can look into a bike commute. :)

Being layed off during a tight job market bites! My old job as a system admin allowed me to surf quite a bit when things slowed down. Now that I'm at home, I don't spent nearly as much time reading posts as I did when at work! I wonder how I ever got anything done around the house back when I had to work? It seems like there is never enough time!
Sorry guys, insensitive topic...floatch

After reading below post and this reply, I realize someone might be bummed by my topic. Sorry guys, didn't mean to be a jerk! I'm just sitting here waiting for parents to come by (it's parent-teacher conference night.) If you're a parent, go to these things!

I consider myself a revolutionary. I am undermining the capitechnocratic paradigm by surfing bicycle websites. In my spare time I actually will ride a bicycle. Hegel once described this situation in his famous "Master-Servant" thesis.
I spend more time on this forum than I do my real work. n/mdust

I'm at work. At home, I only use the internet when I have to--at work, I pursue my other interests (esp. cycling). In fact, I'm staring right now across my desk at my trusty bike, whom I will flog around a nearby lake beginning at about 5:00pm before I ride home.

Sometimes, life is good...

Beware of the all-seeing corporate firewall!Tig
Apr 4, 2002 2:28 PM
I've seen too many people burned for their web surfing habits, so I must raise the warning flag to those who work in a corporation. I'm glad to say that I have never been in charge of an internet firewall. I'd hate to be called upon to create web useage reports that are the framework to fire someone (could see myself in there too!). I have seen different firewall applications that can store much more information than many users suspect. One even captured ICQ chat text that was sent and received.

So, have fun, but try not to spend too much time playing. You never know what Big Brother sees until it's too late.
That is my job...Meric

Here I am.
The world at the tip of my hands.

I always wanted to earn a living with my writing. Well I am not. Or is it that I am only not yet getting money for it?

But I know I get paid to write all right!

Did I not try everything in THEIR power to kick me out of it? Did I not show-up at the meetings, and turn away when asked to take the ball and run? I even insulted them when I could. And I am still sitting here surrounded by the great incompetency of the moronic organisation that rides this wave of falacies.

When I share the elevator (an antithesis of going to hell), I share the very discussions on how to use the tools and not do any work at all. We are all busy; them looking busy, me looking like I am part of it, like I understand and looking like I made the solemn decision to be part of this. Crossed my fingers, bigbadcheeze. You get nothing.

And I go for long lunch walks to look at the busy legs and skirts that rush to the other antichambers or other cosmodemonic franchises. Wishing I would sweep one and carry her on the handlebar skreeeeeming out like an icon of my freedom ripped right off from the tar.

And I do not dream. And I do not mope.

I wait.
I am here.

Signing off, but I'd like to tell you more. It's only about time.

séb.

Next week at this time it will be 4:31pm.

Which will mean only 29 minutes to go to hit the trail.
A question I've been meaning to ask myself...DINOSAUR
Apr 4, 2002 6:52 PM
I'm retired and spend too much time on the internet as it is. I've noticed on the weekends traffic is slow. I've often wondered if this was a site for cyclist exchanging information, or a site for people to goof off with at work?
My previous employer, the state of California, would have given me walking papers if they found me using state equipment to entertain myself with because I was bored. Then again, if no one used this site while at work, I would have nothing to read (an after thought). I guess most people log on here when they are on breaks. Anyway I found different ways to goof off when I was working. I hate using the "W" word....
