Question for Dish owners(5 posts)

Question for Dish ownersTroyboy
Apr 4, 2002 11:07 AM
We have the option to have any one of about 20 or 30 international channels piped to our homes. There are Polish, Greek, Italian, Asian, French, etc. channels available. Has anyone bit the bullet in anticipation of receiving much more cycling coverage? From my understanding, French TV broadcasts every minute of every Tdf. I would go for it if I could get other events. Anyone have any useful info? Thanks.

I have dishnetwork and I can get French Tv5 for an addiional $9.99 but I need a second satellite dish pointed to satellite 61.5 and a spiltter switch. These dishes sell for about $50 on e-bay. Pretty expensive just to watch the tour but my wife is French so I'm really getting it for her to watch French news.

I can't tell from your post whether you are in the U.S. or elsewhere, but in 2000 DishNetwork had the OLN channel showing the entire Tour de France live. Thats why I got satellite. If you are in the U.S., I would check it out.

Sorry, yes, I'm in the US. Actually OLN doesn't show the entire the Tdf live. I've got OLN and watched every single minute of their coverage over the last two years. I believe it's two hours for each stage of compressed coverage. Tonight they've got the Langkawi race squashed into an hour or so. Later they'll pack the Paris-Rubaix into an hour. While I'm grateful for this, I'd gladly get another dish if I have to and pay 9.99 per month if I can get an international channel, be it French or otherwise and get just a small bit of the huge UCI calendar. I'd like to see some the Crit. Inter., Tirreno-Adriatico, Tour of the Mediterr., Giro de Toscana, Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré, Tour of Switzerland, etc. You get the point.

Does anyone have any programming information for the Italian and French or other channels offered, as far as cycling coverage? Thanks!

TV5 is the only French channel offered from dishnet and I'm not sure what they offer for cycling programming. I'd check this link below and call them to ask if they cover this stuff. If they do, please reply-post to let me know as I am also interested.
