In the '01 Tour de France, when Jan took that big spill.... was this the same stage as when Jan gave out his hand to Lance?

Thanks,
Allen

When Jan crashed, Lance waited for him, then went with JaJa. Later Vinokurov pulled Jan to the group which included Lance, but Beloki attacked them, and Lance went after Beloki (eventually), and won the stage. I think that was the stage he dedicated to Casartelli.

The one where Jan extended his arm to Lance was a different one - Laiseka and Belli attacked, and Lance&Jan got rid of everyone else, but too late to catch Laiseka or Belli.
So Lance gave Jan third-place finish worth extra 8 seconds, which put him just ahead
of Kivelev in overall standings (otherwise I think they'd be within a second of each other). So I am pretty sure that climb was after Jan's crash, but a different stage for sure.

On Stage 13 to Pla d'Atet, Ullrich overshot a corner on a descent. Lance waited up for him, asked him if he was okay when they got back together. Lance says Jan told him he was fine. With something like 2 km to go to the finish, Lance attacked and finished about a minute ahead of Jan and pulled on the Maillot Jaune that day.

The next stage finished at the top of Luz Ardiden, the last mountain stage in the Pyrenees. Jan and Lance finished together w/ the handshake, a bit over a minute behind Laiseka and a bit less behind Belli....
