Giro Eclipse? Experiences? Sizing?(4 posts)

Giro Eclipse? Experiences? Sizing?Brian T

I'm replacing an old Trek helmet, size medium. I was about to buy the Giro Eclipse mail order, but was apprehensive, because I don't have the opportunity to test it on my head. So, will a S/M fit? I checked the dimensions, they're about one fourth of an inch larger than my old helmet. Also, any experiences with the Giro Eclipse?

Very positive experiences over many years with Giro helmets, including both road and MTB models. That said, no one can tell you if it will fit. Go to a shop and try one on. Most Giro helmets will fit pretty much the same so a similar Giro model should give you an idea of how an Eclipse fits. If the shop has the helmet in stock and it fits I would suggest giving them the business as well (so long as their price is within reason).

Bell helmets are (used to be) people with round melon shaped heads. Giro are for oval shaped heads. The Eclipse (I have) has the roc lok 3 system, it adjusts loose or tight to your head AFTER you have set the strap size to the velcro pads, with a little gizmo in the back that works like the teeth of an electrical zip tie. I have a great fit but am very disappointed with the glue that holds the velcro pads to the shell. I have glued them about 3 times now.
superglue works fine for those pads (nm)Woof the dog
