Yep, OLN had a special on speed the other night. They had a gal on a special mountain bike going 140 mph down an ice covered mountain ski slope. A few of us have broken 50 mph on a decent on pavement, fewer year even 60 or 70 mph. I simply can not comprehend 140 mph. I do not think that I would even want to try. What do you think?

I think "extreme" sports are lowest common denominator BS that should have died when the Taco Bell and Mt. Dew commercials came out.

It ain't that cool to "just do it" for the sake of being crazier than the next guy or gal.

Would the TDF be better if they all did a bungee jumping stage?

Sadly, there are those that would think so. (All Americans of course.)

Cheers!

I am very skeptical about the physical possibility of going 140 mph on a bike, downhill or drafting a rocket. How did this grrll negotiate the bumps?

John Howard 1981 Hawaii Ironman tri Champ and innumerably titled national road champion among other things drafted a race car driven by Ric Vesco in the 80s and hit 152mph on a bicycle built by Texas framebuider Skip Hujsak.
