I'm buying a second hand road bike but have no idea of my size,
Can anyone suggest any sites where they can help me find my size?,
I'm 5'8", that would be around 54 right?

Being 5'8" does not at all indicate what size frame you need.

I agree, use one of the above sites to determine size.

FYI, I'm 5'8" and ride a 51cm center to center. That does not mean you ride a 51cm.

Be aware that different manufacturers size differently, some are center of the bottom bracket to center of the top tube, some are center of the BB to top of the top tube, and some are center of the BB to the top of the seat post.

or peterwhitecycles.com,anvilbikes.com,sheldonbrown.com. There are many more.

You are in the ballpark on size, but it depends more on your inseam than height. Measuring your cycling inseam is critical in determining the proper frame size. The colorado cyclist web site has this information. For example, I'm barely 5'-7" tall, but I have a 32-5/8" or 83cm inseam. The standard formula for center to top frame size is .67 times inseam or inseam minus 27-28cm. Both formulas suggest a 55-56cm frame. I always ride a 55cm these days, but I've owned a couple of 54's. A 56cm generally has more top tube length than is appropriate for my short torso, and yields a saddle height that would be more appropriate for touring than racing.

I've tried 3 or 4 of the sizing formulas that are repeatedly mentioned on this board. While they get you somewhat in the ballpark, none dialed me into the two differently sized bikes that are currently my main rides. I'm 5'8" with slightly short femurs for my height and ride 51 and 52 right now. I've had two 53s set up for me and was mostly comfortable but not nearly as comfortable as I am on my current 51 and 52. My inseam to the floor, barefoot, book method is just over 30 inches. That is about an inch shorter than most 5'8" dudes I know. I had no clearance on my 53s.
