Zipp 303 vs 404, which to keep?(4 posts)

Zipp 303 vs 404, which to keep?MGS

Here's a great dilemma.

I ordered a set of Zipp 303 clinchers, based on the wheels being lightweight and cheaper than the 404's. They are to be used for everyday riding, training, and any everything else.

The store sent Zipp 404 clinchers by mistake, for the price of the 303's.

I called the store and they told me the decision of which to keep was mine.

They will honor the price they charged me. Shipping the 404's back, exchanging, and reshipping the 303's will cost more than the mistake in the charges.

So, as I have the option of choosing either wheel, do I keep the 404 clinchers, in my possession, or exchange them for the 303's.

The bike is set up with Campy 10, I ride a combination flat and hilly, with a few centuries every season, and a long bike adventure, (4 days of 80-100 mile/day) every year.

I weigh 175 at 5"11"

And yes, I wanted clinchers.

... I'd enjoy the 404s with one caveate...

They will catch a bit more air than the 303s for the ride conditions you noted... still, they are a nice set o aero wheelz (don't you just love how they keep spinnin' long after you've given them that initial push?).

On a similar note... I ordered a HED Superlite two years ago... and a Superlite and regular disc arrived... alas, the internet store caught their error after about a week. Seems as though another guy, 2000 miles away, was waiting on the wheel for a TT... and it was the last clincher disc they had. I couldn't keep it knowing that he needed it (but man, was I tempted).

We abide.

so.. is this why my set came so late??cyclopathic

I ordered a Columbus Carve fork (alloy tube)mainly because I was skeptical about the rigity (lack of) of a CF tube. I paid for the Carve but they sent me a Muscle fork (CF tube and about $110 more) I e-mailed Steve @ sdeals and he said it was his mistake so keep it! I guess I'll find out if CF is stiff enough.
