|Is this frame made from a custom serotta tubing or is it known to be reynolds 531. experience with this frame?|

|No experience with the frame but did read a while back that Serotta is using the 531 manganeese moly steel alloy in the Atlanta tubes. This info related to when the frame first came out so I'm not sure about more receintly. Aren't the Atlanta tubes shaped in such a way that standard issue round 531 tubes would not fit into the lugs?
I remember reading that Reynolds is phasing out the 531 alloy in favor of standard cromoly. Not sure if this info is correct but thought I would share.

|I believe the term 'custom tubing', as used by Serotta, has to do not so much with what it is made of, as is does how it is made e.g. manipulated, shaped, drawn and butted. Serotta has tubing made to their specifications, hence 'custom tubing'. If you were to pose your question on
the Serotta Owners forum. I'm sure someone can give you the definitve answer. http://www.hydromedia.com/phorum/list.php?f=3

|Atlantas and Rapid Tours were/are a 531 and 725 mix shaped to Serotta's specs. Used to work for a Serotta dealer, and Atlantas were always my favorite demo ride--totally rock-solid, very comfortable, stupid-speed cornering and descending geometry. If you're asking about them because one is offered for sale, jump on and buy it and don't sweat the details.|| |
