I am looking for a new bike and have zeroed in on the Trek 2200. I was wondering if anyone can tell me bikes that are similar so I can do a comparison. I want to make sure I get the right bike.

Even if you can't aford the 2300, give it a test ride. The frame is much better than the 2200's "SL" tubing. The upgrade to Ultegra is nice, but the better frame is what counts the most.

Compare the 2200 to a Klein, but it will cost more as well.
you can get a better bike than that for $1200century2

if you like aluminum - The Motobecane le Champion is as nice as a Trek 2300 and you can buy it for $1200 or so. I like steel and have a Mercier Serpens I just got for $1200 and it is lighter than a Trek 2200 and has full ultegra and the quality ride of Reynolds tubing

Last week, I bought a Klein Quantum after looking at a Trek 2200 and a 2001 Specialized Comp. The Klein was $100 more than the Trek. I really liked the Trek, and it is nicely equipped, but the Klein was just a little smoother over the bumps (at least on my test rides). I also tested the Trek 2300, and it is nicer than the 2200, but again, you will move up in price. The Specialized was really nice, very tight and responsive. However, it seemed to ride harsher than the Klein. All in all, I think the Trek 2200 is a good bike.

Be sure to save some $$$ for all the accessories if you don't have them already (helmet, shoes, shorts, pump, etc).
