No surgery! NO surgery!(33 posts)

No surgery! NO surgery!Elefantino
Mar 22, 2002 3:04 PM
Doctor says, surprisingly, that in the last four weeks, somehow, the floating vertebrae half has begin to reattach itself to the base of the T-7. There's still a lot of healing left to do, but it looks like chest-cracking will not be in order.

What a day. Many prayers answered, good wishes felt. Thanks to all my boardmates. Miracles do happen ... twice in my case.

Oh yeah ... I also sent the check off for the Serotta (owner is throwing in a Cinelli stem), my Freddie Rodriguez jersey and Elite Fluid trainer arrived in the mail today, and I sold a set of Spinergys for a nice profit. Plus ... wife brought home some Edy's Girl Scout Cookie SAMOAS ice cream!!

Mike, you WILL be back on the bike :)
ps, what about the C40? what about the Softride?
re: great news!!!Elefantino

Thanks. No doubt about it.

C-40 and Softride fell victim to the seductive siren song of the Serotta. Steel is real, after all.

Thanks! Because of the location of the break, nothing. Haven't been able to do any exercise. But once I get the OK, the Elite Fluid is going to get a workout!

I sort of knew you'd be alright. I'd like to know what kind of lounge chair you've been living in in case I ever need to heal a bad back!

>>that's great but watch the ice cream<<

there is no doubt about it. ice cream is bad for the body. BUT there can be no doubt that ice cream is good for the soul. AND calories can ALWAYS be burned off.
caveat: I speak as a guy weighing 125 pounds with a high metabolism.
Great news!dsc

Congratulations, Mike. I went thru a similar deal with C-6 and C-7 many years ago. It was expected to heal naturally, but after weeks in traction I ended up needing surgery. I truly felt your disappointment when surgery looked like your only option, and share your joy now. See you on the road soon.

I'm glad to hear it. Best wishes Elephantino. (nm)Sintesi at home

That's great to hear Mike. Glad this is taking the easy route, you deserve it. Hang in there and you'll be back to your normal life here soon. Adversity makes life afterwards just a bit sweeter. . .
