|Going for one of the above, probably on Monday. Common sense and the pocket book suggest the Concours is luxury enough for me - I will race, but i ain't no Hainault (mosta you guys prefered lemond, right?).
In terms of ride and weight am I going to regret not upsetting the wife, or should I be sensible as cash is quite an issue?
Apols if this belongs in components section. I promise this is my last 'new frame' query, but you gotta get the facts before a big spend.

|there's a forum over at Serotta.com. I'd ask this over there. If money is an issue, I'd take a hard look at the Colorado III. Have fun with your new ride.|

|I have had a C III for about eight months. I would also suggest asking over at the Serotta Forum. www.serotta.com, then follow the links to the forum. I know that if I didn't get the frame I wanted most, I would constantly question it. It just happened that I was in the market for a steel frame. The Serotta was the best one I tested by far.|

|This is gonna be a long term investment. If you're the slightest bit unsure now you're gonna really wish you had bought the best later long after you forget how much it cost.|

|That's a lot of cash to crumple up in a wreck and you will wreck if you race. I hope you can inusre it. |
There isn't a ride that goes by where I don't appreciate every ounce of my Legend. Maybe you can buy one used and save a ton of $$$.

|Both are very nice ti bikes. Back when I used to work in a shop, we once had a Concours with Ultegra and a Legend with Dura Ace in the shop at the same time. I rode both and couldn't tell a difference. Supposedly the Legend is a little lighter (as a result of the more hevaily worked tubing). Both were fairly light, very well made; and without the differentiating stickers, I doubt if you could tell the difference while riding. So, if $$$ is an issue (as it always is with me), get the Concours.
But since you mentioned common sense and pocket book, I gotta ask: why are you spending big $$$ on a boutique ti frame for racing?
When I was racing, I would go through a frame every 1 to 1.5 season. Mostly, they'd get trashed in crashes. My last 4 years of racing, I went through 3 frames: a Cannondale that got a chainstay chewed through after crashing into a curb in a crit; a Raleigh Competition that had the rear triangle mangled in another crash; and a steel Serotta that had the toptube creased/folded after yet another crash.
If you're going to be racing seriously more than a few times a year, I'd suggest an inexpensive production bike like a Giant TCR or similar. But, if you mostly just ride with the occasional race thrown in, I'd go for the Serotta.

|I went through the same thing and sprung for the Legend Ti.
I figured I'd always wonder what the Legend would be like if I went for second best. The Legend is a bit lighter, rides a bit smoother and is stiffer at the BB, you won't get any front der rub on any Ti Serotta anyway.
I did an extended test ride of a Concours, and it's great as well. The Legend riding a little smoother is all I really noticed.
Good choice, and either one will be top notch. If you're not the type to second guess yourself, save your money and get the Concours. I'm happy with my choice, but there are many happy Concours owners out there as well.
