|51.3 on a single, 68.2 on a tandem...||DrPete|

|The tandem ride was down a steep 2-mile descent in Ohio with a buddy of mine who's also about 200lb. I was stoker, and let me say that was some scary $h!t. My single record isn't quite as impressive, but hey. I thought it was cool|
|One mile in 58 seconds ...||Humma Hah|

|... down one bitchin' hill in southwest Virginia. I suspect the old mechanical odometer was wigging out at the high speed, though. I was definitely cooking, though, and could not have stopped if my life depended on it.
More recently, the same bike has reached 42 mph on downhills, but not in as tight a tuck, and deliberately holding back. It hit 29.5 mph on flat ground last Friday, not shabby for a singlespeed cruiser.

|54 MPH down a Colorado mountain||PaulCL|
Mar 20, 2002 6:21 AM
|Flying down a mountain last summer, in the rain, I hit over 54mph. Scared to death. While in my tuck, all I could think of was having a flat in the front or some other mechanical catastrophe. The coolest thing was that I just flew past some of my friends who were "only" doing 45 or so. what a feeling of speed!|

|59mph down a hill right behind my house. Problem is, there are a few driveways off of it. Have to really watch out even though it is a rural area.
I really want to break 60mph. Maybe I'll have to work it into tonights ride, although that hill is the end of a dead end road.

|165 mph on a Honda CBR600 with a full-on race motor with pump gas. Had it red-lined somewhere around 15 - 16,000 rpm. It was smooth though. Went home & cleaned my underwear after that one. Rt 78 outside Allentown, PA.|

|I can see the arrest warrant now--"Mr. Quadzilla, you're under arrest." I think he'll be OK. He has a future in keeping natural selection alive and well, but I don't think the law will stop him :)|
