Any experience with Yakima's Big Tow?(4 posts)

Any experience with Yakima's Big Tow?DrPete

I'm looking into doing some multi-day rides, both on and off road this year, and I've been looking at the Yakima Big Tow trailer for carrying the tent, sleeping bags, etc. Looking at the available racks for my Klein Attitude and Cannondale R4000 Saeco, the options aren't too impressive, and by the time I cram a bag everywhere I need to I think I'd get close to the 300 bucks that the Big Tow costs. Problem is, I haven't seen or heard of anyone who uses one. Any Big Tow users out there? How does it compare with panniers/racks? Thanks for the info!

I recently bought a trailer and after some research I went with the BOB Trailer. (www.bobtrailers.com) Lots of great feedback from people who dragged them all over the world. The Yakima looks similar, but I was unable to find such customer praise for the Yak brand.
Now that you mention it....DrPete

Now that you mention the BOB trailer, I have to say the similarity is striking. Did Yakima buy the design from BOB or just plain steal it? I do like the fairing on the Yakima, though... Most impressive is the free-standing bike in the background of the BOB picture. Oh yeah, he's got to have a kickstand!
