|saw a '89 Trek 1100 at a LBS for $269. anyone know about this bike? i can't find any general specs on the web.

|13 years is old for an aluminium bike. Aluminium has a limited fatigue life, steel bikes of a similar age are a better bet.|

|I've got a friend that just retired hers. Basically, over $200 for anything with downtube shifters (unless the frame has an independent value/worth rebuilding) is higher than market.
Rebuilding this, even if you want to (aluminum has come a long way since then) would not be a great option because I'm betting the dropout spacing would not accomodate today's 9 or 10 spd. rear.
