|Before today's stage of Tirreno-Adriatico, cyclingnews.com reports:
In the early morning (6:00am) before the stage start, various riders were visited by the NAS (Italian drug police) in their hotel rooms. The raid was authorised by Paola Cameran, magistrate in charge of the Giro d'Italia investigation in Padova.
The searches were conducted on a much smaller scale, with Davide Rebellin (Gerolsteiner), Fabio Sacchi (Saeco), Gorazd Stangelj (Fassa Bortolo, Davide Casarotto, Stefano Casagranda and Endrio Leoni (Alessio) the subjects of the search according to ANSA newsagency. Casarotto had two ointments in his possession, both of which he had authorisation for. Similarly Davide Rebellin had an inhaler that he was authorised to use. All the riders were allowed to start the stage.
