|Ive heard brief mention of past problems with some Deda equipment, but i've gathered almost no specific info. What was the problem? stem or bars or both? and more importantly, if I was thinking of getting some new Deda stuff (newton 31 stem and newton oversized bars) would you advise against it? if so, what would you get instead? Zepp XL? WCS?

|The early regular size Newton stems had problems with the front faceplate. Some people are also reporting stripped/broken screws. A friend of mine broke the faceplate on his Newton and Dedacciai sent his LBS a new one for free. The problem has been fixed and of course if you go oversize, this is a moot issue.
The oversize concept seems good. I'm not sure I would pay the price premium for the Newton over the Magic however. A little extra beef on the bars and stem is not a bad idea - plus, the Magic parts are quite light in their own right.

|I have the newton bar and stem, new this year. Although I have yet to put in more miles to make a final judgement, they have performed well. I just switched to the oversize this year and I find it stiffer and more ergonomic to my hands. Whatever brand you get, definitly go oversize. I'm pretty confident in my shop and if I had problems, I know they would replace it. So you may want to avoid mail order if you think there might be a problem. Is is worth extra? I don't know, I got a parts package with the Record group I bought.|| |
