Hey All
Recently, i got sick for about a whole month and a half. Some sort of bad stomach flu, or two of em. Anyways, before i got sick, i was able to ride for about 20 mi. at a good 20-25mph pace. It too me about 4-5 months t get in that condition. After i got back on the bike a couple of time(durig a two week span) it seems like i move slower than my grandma. I can barely do a mi. at 15 MPH. It's not my lungs that bun, or that im tired at all. It's my legs, they get sore quick. They wont spin the pedals anymore. What is it? Is it normal to be in this condition after 2 wks of normalcy. Or am i being a whimp. Thanks for the help...

Well... Greg Lemond says in his book that you lose three weeks of condition for every week off the bike...

That sounds about right. Although this sounds very similiar to encountering old age....

You'll be back to close to where you were in a week or two if you ride regularly. You not only lost fitness, but were sick too. You can't expect to get right back on. And tell us, were you riding at 20 or 25? It takes 80% more effort to go 25 than 20, and 50% less to go 15 than 20. Quite a difference in your expectation if you want to go from 15 to 20 as opposed to 15 to 25!
