Question regarding the Telekom teamTroyboy
Mar 14, 2002 10:17 AM
In watching the encore replaying of last year's TDF, that I've been recording on my hard disk, I found a few interesting things. Telekom is riding some areo carbon rims. They look very similar to Zipps or the Velomax version with the Zipp rim but might not be THAT deep. I couldn't see any stickers or anything either. They could possibly be debadged Cosmos, but I really doubt it. Are they on the infamous Lews? Anyone know? Thanks.

searching the Velonews site. As I recall, Leonard Zinn was doing a running feature on tour bikes and their kit, including some of the wheels.

Tune, a German hub maker built these wheels for Team Telekom. Campy didn't care as long as there were no stickers on them.

if you look at the top of the rim in the photo you'll see the seam were ZIPP adds their ceramic final layer layup. post 2000 ZIPP owners will recognize this. (I have 2002 404's)

Anyone who owns new ZIPPS will recognize that rim.

you'll see what I'm talking about. See the seam where the color changes on both. It's a product of the final ceramic layup only on ZIPP's.
