|I'm trying to locate a manufacturer or source of 650 x 25 or 650 x 28 tires for touring this summer. Does anyone know where these could be found? Also, since I'm planning to tow a BOB trailer instead of using panniers, can I get away with using my current 650 x 23s? Thanks for your help!

|I think you'll be hard-pressed to find wider tires in 650. THe reason is that most 650 bikes are ridden by triathletes, and these guys aren't that interested in touring. You might try going directly to Vittoria or Continental (I think they have websites, though maybe not in English).|

|Any reason why I can't use a 26"x1" commuter-type tire on 650 rims?? Just an idea....|

|The bead set diameters are different. You will either risk blowouts from a loose bead (tube peeks out from under tire and blows up like a balloon), or you'll have difficulty at best putting it on the rim. If memory serves, the bead seat diameter of 650s is 571. Look for a AAA x BBB dimension molded into the sidewall of the tire. This is the ACTUAL dimensions of the tire expressed as casing width x bead seat diameter. The bead seat diameter is what you need to match up with any tires you use. MTB tires don't match.|

|I know that Bontrager makes a 650x23 & 650x25 tire. I would suggest checking out thier website and see if they also sell tires made for touring.
Hope this helps.
