Short cage Record 10 rear dr. questiontmguy

I just built up my bike and the rear dr. cage looks too long. Did I get a medium cage by mistake? The one I have is from pulley to pulley 2 3/4 inches center to center. Would someone check for me?

Thank you!
You my friend have a 'medium cage' derCT1

The short cage is 2.2" from pulley to pulley.

The medium cage is considered "standard" by many shops. It will work just fine.... got both flavors on several different bikes and they all work pretty much the same.

Oh, for best "performance" the medium cage der should be set up with a slightly shorter chain than what the Campy pamphlet recommends.

Thanks! Gary at GVH is sending by second day air a short cage and new chain. His service is excellent! Cannot say enough about this guy.

Just curious.... why the swap.

I've got both and they shift the same.

Purely aesthetics. Short cage looks better IMHO. New Pinarello and I want it to look as sleek as possible. THanks for the imput. Just out of curiousity, what freewheel combo are you running with each one? I have 12-25 and 53/39, which is the max range on the short cage. Thanks for your input!

OK, I can understand your desire for the short cage!!!

I've got just about every campy cassette made.... and a couple of custom ones also.

The 13-29 will actually work on the short cage der. It isn't recommended but it DOES work IF you set up the deraileur with max slack.... 1cm on the der setup as spec'd in the Campy book.

good luck
