I Have about 1400.00 to spend on a new bike. I know fit is the most important, I just want to know what is good ban and other wise. I currently have a 98 trk 1000 and want to upgrade. I am in the middle of a 54 and 55 dependign on the company. What are your suggestions?

Thanks
Matt

well I ride anything from a 56 to a 58 c-c, depending on the STA and tt length, which are more important than seat tube length (assuming you have adequate standover). Check out GVHbikes.com for good deals in that price range, and Colorado Cyclist and Wrench Science for good fit info. Also maybe try a Medium Giant TCR. Of course, understanding how you fit your current bike and what you like/dislike about it is crucial to getting a good setup the next time around. Good luck.

get a TCR frame from eBay and get a parts kit. if you are of average size you will not be sorry. btw, my 6' friend is getting a size M TCR, with a 130mm stem.

I wouldn't buy one used--I think you definitely want the warranty. Also the prices for those bikes, even at retail, are very competitive.

I've got a friend looking to spend $1200. Its amazing what more an extra $200 will get you. He's looking at used bikes, mostly on ebay. From what I see, they get bid up too high. If it were me, I'd look for a complete bike from a mailorder site. I know Colorado Cyclist has an aluminium house brand bike with Ultegra and a carbon fork (Douglas) for around $1400. I also see GVH (gvhbikes.com) has an Italian frame (I think steel) with carbon fork and Ultegra for around $1400. Nice looking and fairly unique. Never dealt with GVH myself, but many here have and seem pleased. Excel may have a complete bike they sell cheap as well. I've bought several bikes mailorder and always been pleased. If you know what you want, it can be a good deal.

Supergo has a Cervélo Prodigy for $1399 which lists at $1799. It has Ultegra components.

Just my opinion, but those Giant bikes are uuuugly. I'd much rather have the Viner.
