I squished a squirrel! Poor little guy. He zigged when he should have zagged. 30+ mph kg271 did him in. He never had a chance.......

Rode to work with normal cool weather -- but it since has snowed six inches, the wind is howling, and it means an epic return home tonight.

I ran over a squirrel with my commute bike once. At slow speed it ended up wedged in the spokes and the frame -- blood and hair everywhere. I would not have guessed that a rodent like that could scream so loud. I rolled the bike backwards to dislodge it and it managed to run off. The woman who witnessed it had the compassion to ask how I was.

It's been snowing and windy all day, 6-8 inches so far. It was a nice week and I was able to ride outside everyday until today. Good thing the tour recap is on again tonight. That will make the trainer more enjoyable.
don't let it ruin your day or anything :-)ET

Look271, you've never sounded so happy before. :-) Mowing down helpless squirrels must be therapeutic. :-)

Actually, you're lucky. Someone told me a story a few days ago of an accomplished cyclist he knows who was doing 30 on a paved trail when a squirrel suddenly came out and got caught in his spokes. It then started turning with the wheel. When, an instant later, it reached the fork, the cyclist went over the bars. Broke a few ribs, punctured a lung, has a sagging shoulder, can't lift his arm. Left the scene dazed, and began wandering in the wrong direction from home without his bike. Was out of work for two weeks. Long recovery expected.

It is announced to be a VERY unusual (and how welcome!) 16 degrees celsius In Montreal... make that 61 weird degrees to you!

So tonight is the usual friday relaxed one hour roller session... But tomorrow afternoon.....

I'll go to the flat Gilles Villeneuve formula 1 circuit (you can actually take the subway there... But I'll ride or drive). No cars or very little, excellent pavement, perfect for the first outing of the season!!!!

Ya-hooooooo!

-there is the occasionnal fox or squirrel... hope not to mulch any.
I kind of feel bad...Ian

... I should have ridden today, in the mid 70's with clear blue sky. But I am getting on the mountian bike tomorrow, high in the low 80's and then a nice long road ride on Sunday with temps in the high 70's.
