I'm planning to order a wheelset from overseas at Totalcycling.com.How do you pay for the custom duty which is listed as 5% for wheelsets?Does the seller collect it up front with the order?Does the delivery person collect it?Or do you get a separate bill for it from customs? How does the whole process work? Thanks.

I bought a frame from England, and when they sent it they used a local shipping company that contracted with UPS. About a week after receiving the frame, I received a bill from UPS for the Customs duty. So you will pay the shipping service. It ended up being a really good deal for me.

They actually collect a check when they deliver the package. The first time I ordered a frame from England, they lost the frame, and I later received a bill for customs duty, even though I didn't receive the frame. that is a whole other story. Sorry
Where can I find customs duty info online?Kristin

I bought a wheelset from totalcycling last year and as far as I know I never paid a customs duty. I didn't even think about it. It cost $22, I believe, to ship the wheelset, but it just arrived like every other package and that was that. Dunno, maybe I got lucky.
