| Anyone know about supposed Serotta/Paramount ti frame? | JBurke Feb 28, 2002 8:55 AM | | Some guy is selling what he claims is a ti Paramount made by Serotta. It looks cool, it's my size and I need a bike, but I have some doubts this bike is what he claims it is. Anyone know anything about this bike and, if so, is it any good? Lemme know, road guys. |
| re: Anyone know about supposed Serotta/Paramount ti frame? | TJeanloz Feb 28, 2002 9:05 AM | | Schwinn spec'd out the Paramount ti bikes to Serotta in ~1998-1999, the only wierdness is that they have very relaxed geometry- the chainstays are longer than on some touring bikes. A few racers I knew who had them weren't too thrilled with their handling; too slow and steady for their tastes. |
| Thanks. Is the geometry still posted somewhere? | JBurke Feb 28, 2002 10:40 AM | | For the type of riding I do (long road rides, triathlons, no crits) the geometry may not be bad--unless it's REALLY weird. Any word on TT length? I prefer longish. Does any of your friends still have the geometry specs? |
| where did you see the bike ? | quadzilla1 Feb 28, 2002 11:21 AM | | my LBS put one up on ebay. It is a VERY nice bike. I think they had it at around $1200 or so. |
| Here, in Classified. Thing is... | JBurke Feb 28, 2002 2:03 PM | | ...the price keeps going UP. It started at $1300, but last I looked it was at @ $1500. Maybe $2K by tomorrow? I'm not sure if this guy really knows what he wants to do, but it's good to know it's a nice bike. |
| geez.... | quadzilla1 Feb 28, 2002 3:52 PM | | I think my LBS was selling theirs around $1400 & was a 58 cm. It was also BRAND new. If you are interested, I'll stop by & see if they still have it & get the specifics. |
| Sure. Is that complete, or frame only? | JBurke Mar 1, 2002 7:03 AM | | The other guy's is complete AND pimp gold -- that's pretty cool. |
| Paramount geometery | Nessism Feb 28, 2002 1:01 PM | | I'm not sure about the Serotta Ti Paramounts, but the other Paramounts have fairly high bottom brackets. As I recall, the bb drop is 6.5 cm which results in a bb height in the 27.3 cm range. As the others have mentioned, the rear stays are also long - can't remember exact dimensions. Not as long as the Super Sport Schwinns however, they are super long.
If you need more info email me and I can look it up tonight. I have a table comparing the dimensions of quite a few different mfgers.

| Thanks. | JBurke Feb 28, 2002 1:59 PM | | Yeah, if you could look that up, that would be awesome. High bb and long chainstays, eh? Hmmm. I'm not sure I get that, but maybe the other numbers will make it a bit clearer. |
| Update | Nessism Feb 28, 2002 4:40 PM | | Ok, got the spec sheet in front of me.
Bottom bracket drop 65mm for all sizes larger than 50cm
Chainstay length is 41cm for all frame sizes - not long
Headtube/offset 74/4.0 for sizes larger than 52cm
Top tube length is fairly standard
Good luck. |
| Great! Thanks. | JBurke Mar 1, 2002 7:00 AM | | That helps. Thanks for the legwork. |
