Some posters may recognize and associate my name and a restoration project I am working on. Value of the restoration as it turns out will be only to me; the bike is not a highly sought out collector piece. It needs paint and to me the bike is a blank canvas to do as I feel and I am wondering if any posters have any experience with repaints.

My question is, the frame currently has painted lugs and crown with chrome fork blades that are chromed about 8" long. I have heard that you can get these parts and part of the rear triangle powdercoated in a faux chrome color at a substantially cheaper price than going the actual chroming process which most likely will be $250 just for the proposed chrome work with paint being at least another $200. Anyone ever seen the powdercoated chrome color? Does it look like real chrome?

Talk to the people at Spectrum (www.spectrumpowderworks.com). If anyone knows and can give you an honest answer to this question, it's them.
