|I'm not clear on the topic. I am experimenting with a new saddle, and I got this little thing, but I don't know if it's what's normally considered a saddle sore. It is just a small, knot type bump directly on my sit bone...is that a saddle sore? The saddle actually feels quite comfortable, but it's a lot harder than the one I'm used to.|

|Some folks use "saddle sore" generically to refer to any abraded or tender spot in the crotch area, but in the purest sense it relates to an irritated, infected hair follicle... kinda pimple-like.
Lots of different theories about best way to heal, but all involve keeping the area VERY clean and VERY dry (don't coat it with ointment unless it appears infected).

|Think festering boil. We call it a saddle sore because it is just to sickining to call it for what it really is: a blood and puss filled abcess in the worse posible place.
It would be painful enuf to make sitting on the cushy pillows.
