Just put 250 miles on my new wheelset ac hubs (18f/24r),velocity fusion rims (new this year),wheelsmith 14XL (14-17-14)on front and non-drive,14db (14-15-14)drive,alloy nip (front and non-drive),brass on drive.Laced radial front and 2x on drive side.Total weight 1430g(610g-Fr/820g-Rr).So far these are better then my Spox(these are a little more comfy),chris king and 530Zipps, better road "feel",very smooth hub, great lateral stiffness(for my weight 145lb).Great as a climbing wheel and instilled confidence downhill at 40-50mph.The wheelbuilder (Jack@Mt.Tabor) is a true master not cheap but better than any other wheel I've had built including LBS and Colorado Cyclist (they are less expensive but IMHO not nearly as well built). This is NOT spam but a compliment to a craftman.I LOVE THESE WHEELS!!
Agreed with the custom wheels...Cima Coppi

I have a pair built by Joe Young. Fairly basic FiR SC170's, 32 hole mated to Campy Record hubs, and DT 14/15 DB spokes laced 3X. Not the lightest wheels, but absolutely bomb proof, and smooth as silk on the road.

I will always recommend Joe for any wheel build.
