Performancebike -- ARRRRRGH!scottfree

So last summer Performance sends my order TWICE to the wrong address -- just random addresses, as near as I can tell. They finally claimed to get the problem straightened out (after a lengthy & finally heated conversation with a service rep who finally chose to believe I know my own address) -- only to THEN inform me that the item is now 'on backorder' and I can expect it, well, sometime. I cancelled the order and also told them to quit sending me their catalogue, which finds me quite easily twice a month at the correct address. Decided no more dealings with them.

Still... last month my wife, knowing no better, ordered me something from Performance for my birthday. Never showed up. I called yesterday -- lo and behold, it had been mailed to the wrong address, yet again! To yet another random address (none of the wrong addresses were the same!

Sigh. So here we go again. Lengthy and sometimes heated conversation with service rep. She finally believes I know my own address. Says not the worry, the item will be two-day shipped to me ... someday.

It's on backorder.

I began ordering from them 1 1/2 years ago. My very first order was shipped twice to the wrong address. It took them a month to send it to my correct address (the one I GAVE them on the phone!). Subsequently I ordered three more times and one out of those three was sent again to a wrong address. The last order made it in about 9 days although the catalogs arrive with regularity and speed. My riding buddy who lives about 3 miles from me orders regularly and his stuff arrives within 3 days. Go figure. I haven't ordered from them in about 4 months and don't plan to. I don't know what their problem is, but I've had enough.

I guess it can be different for different people. I've been ordering from Performance for eight years and have NEVER had any problems. Even when I made the mistake of ordering the wrong size, they took it back and sent my right size quickly.

Try ordering over the web, that way you give them your address in print. That way, their computer will have the right info.

Sorry, just couldn't help m'self. I am powerless when faced with such a wide open oportunity. I am so ashamed.

Cheers!

I would agree that the Internet is the way to go when ordering from Performance. I have never had any trouble with incorrect addresses when I type it in myself.

FWIW

I think Performance sorts their databases by zip code and then name. If you live in a densly populated zip code, they send the stuff to anybody with your name. (My guess)

I work with my cousin of the same last name and we use our work address for shipping (So the wife don't know we got new bike crap.)Anyhow routinely stuff i ordered gets sent to his name and vise versa. It's OK for us, just confusing. They allways seem to bill the right person. As an additional fringe benefit, my cousin belongs to Performance Team Diver reabte program. I now have several thousand points for dive gear. I wish I liked diving as much as biking.
