Any opinions on shimano 105 PD-5500's ? I'm thinking about getting some but i read the terrible reviews of the Ultegra 6600's (extremely hard to clip out) and wondered if the 5500's had similar problems.

thanks

I have a pair or pd-5500's. These are by far, the worse pedals I have ever used. The problem with the system is that you never know exactly how much tension it is going to take to release them. SPD mountain pedals seem consitant, these do not. I have ridden spd's since the early 90's and have not fell over in years. Last weekend, I fell over at a stop light cause I could not get my foot out. The whole team laughed, cause the same thing damn near happened the week before. The tension screw is on the weakest setting and they still won't release predictably. Shimano makes great stuff, I just don't know how they have screwed up so much with their pedals in the past few years.

The easiest pedals to clip in and out of are Speedplays. Clip in with "no look" both sides are the same. Clip out with 30 degree, no resistance, rotation.

I have Shimano 535s on my road bike. No problem getting in or out. Thinking of putting the 536s on the mountain bike. Any feedback on these would be appreciated.
