there is a weight penalty, but at 0.05-1.50 gm depending on size the real question is do you prefer black or silver?
you can get anodized AL spacers too in black (nm)ColnagoFE

I've got old-school steel Campy headset spacers on my commuter/rain bike's threaded headset, and they're great. Carbon spacers will make your bike feel dead, and those aluminum spacers will beat you to death! You may pay a weight penalty with steel, but you'll forever enjoy the beauty and craftsmanship of a well-made Italian steel headset spacer.
The hell?hmm

The hell? It's just a spacer. They don't do anything but space. They don't change the ride quality. This is all nonsense.
I was thinking the same thing.Troyboy

My guess is blindfolded, you'll never be able to tell the difference between any material and the weight differences between them all is completely insignificant. I use plastic spacers. Free from the shop.

for carbon headset spacers makes me think that sometimes we take the minutia of our equipment just a little too seriously. I'm glad someone got it, Dave.

Someone once told me that titanium golf clubs are God's way of telling us that we have too much money. There's no parallel there to cycling, is there?
I'll bet they are CAMPY thats why!cyclopathic

I have two black cf spacers and one sil al. I just went with what my LBS had in stock. You'd have to look really close to even works, that's all that matters...
